“Nutrition farming is all about getting back to the root cause and solving the problem through minerals, microbes and humus.“

That was the message from Graeme Strait at the Soil Health and Your Wealth workshop in Bindoon on 12th June.

Hosted by RegenWA and the Chittering Chamber of Commerce, the event brought together 35 participants – farmers, consumers and industry professionals – to learn about soil health and nutrition farming. Graeme Sait, author, educator and farmer from Nutri-Tech Solutions, shared just a fraction of his amazing knowledge.

Participants learnt about nutrition farming as a holistic system that recognises links between the health of soils, crop resilience, animal vitality, farmer health and planetary wellness. Graeme also provided information about and the practical applications for reading and understanding soil tests; how microbes affect the health of plants and soil; key biological inputs; and how to harness humus. Participants were appreciative of Graeme’s straightforward and easy-to-implement tips and tricks.

Equally as impressive was the amazing morning tea and lunch provided by Northern Valley Locavore who used locally-sourced produce to create a wholesome, nourishing lunch to fuel our brains.

This event was supported by Perth NRM, RegenWA, Lotterywest and the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation’s Soil Wise Program. Soil Wise is funded by the National Landcare Program Smart Farms Small Grants – an Australian Government initiative. It is supported by Healthy Estuaries WA – a State Government program.
