World Soil Day 2022 -save the date!
SoilsWest and the WA branch of Soil Science Australia invite you to SAVE THE DATE for World Soil Day on Monday the 5th of December.
Connect with your community and hear eye-opening perspectives from leading soil researchers, practitioners, producers, and students relating to the 2022 World Soil Day UN-FAO theme of Soil: Where food begins including:
- First Nations knowledge
- Soil, plant, and human nutrition
- Local producer perspectives
- Food security
- Ecological restoration
- Recycling and compost
- Re-evaluating waste and circular economics
The full program of speakers and venue for the day will be announced soon. The day is expected to run from approximately 9:30AM to 4:00PM.
Free morning tea and lunch will be provided by local producers, along with a casual sundowner to close out the day.
World Soil Day was established by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation and is held annually on December 5 as a means to focus attention on the importance of healthy soil and advocating for the sustainable management of soil resources.
The theme for 2022 is ‘Soils: Where Food Begins’ #Soils4Nutrition
