Each of the 160+ Neighbourhood and Community Resource Centres located across WA is comprised of small groups of thoughtful, committed people who work daily to change their communities for the better.

They are the people, working in their (local) place, and in partnership with many other people, agencies and organisations who share the goal of creating strong, vibrant and inclusive community.

Imagine if all these small groups of thoughtful, committed people had the opportunity to gather in one place: to inspire and be inspired, to exchange ideas, and learn – not just from each other – but from a host of speakers and workshop presenters who live and breathe community and community-led development.

The conference aims to:

    • Focus on opportunities for bottom-up, place-based and community-led development: the empowerment of community (and the individuals within that community) to determine not just what they want to achieve but how they want to achieve it.Feature inspiring keynote speakers including Dr Cheryl Kickett-Tucker, Research Fellow at Curtin University and finalist for WA 2019 Australian of the year (Local Hero), and Megan Courtney, community-led development expert and founding member of the New Zealand-based Inspiring Communities, an organisation that catalyses locally-led change.

    • Offer 20 workshops over 4 concurrent sessions and topics relevant to small community-led organisations: governance, sustainability, partnerships, community development, finance and HR/IR.

    • Recognise the importance of creating a culture of collaboration to enable effective, seamless, and cost-effective means of driving positive change.
